No hotel is close to every major Beijing sight. Plan days by district and choose a base that reduces repeated cross-city travel.
Wangfujing and the historic core
Wangfujing is practical for the Forbidden City, Tiananmen area, National Museum and central Dongcheng, though entrances and security routes can make map distance misleading.
Temple of Heaven and Qianmen
South-central Dongcheng can suit Temple of Heaven and Qianmen plans. Compare the exact gate and metro route.
Hutongs, lakes and temples
Houhai, Beihai, Jingshan, Nanluoguxiang and the Lama Temple can be grouped across one or two north-central days.
Summer Palace and northwest Beijing
The Summer Palace is in Haidian. It is normally a dedicated trip from a central hotel rather than a walkable attraction.
Olympic Green and east Chaoyang
The Bird's Nest and Water Cube are north; 798 Art Zone and Chaoyang venues are east. Pick a Chaoyang hotel if those plans outweigh historic-center days.
